NCSAM 2024

Globally, democracies are grappling with the challenges of digital information manipulation, which can undermine the very foundations of democratic processes. According to a 2024 Report by Africa Center for Strategic Studies, disinformation campaigns have targeted every region of the continent, with at least 39 African countries being the target of specific disinformation campaigns.

It is in view of the above, that the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in consultation with key stakeholders seeks to observe its annual National Cyber Security Awareness Month under the theme “Combating Misinformation/Disinformation in a Digital Resilient Democracy – Our Collective Responsibility”. This is to adopt a proactive stand to create awareness and build the capacities of citizens to detect, prevent and mitigate the spread of misinformation and disinformation as part of Ghana’s general election to safeguard national security.

The theme "Combating Misinformation/Disinformation in a Digital Resilient Democracy - Our Collective Responsibility" is timely and crucial as it encapsulates the essence of the shared duty of all key stakeholders (political actors, citizens, civil society, private sector, journalists, media and developments partners) to preserve Ghana's democratic processes as it joins over 60 countries globally going to the polls this year.
